CORSO project outreach at The Global Emissions InitiAtive (GEIA) conference, July 9th-11th, 2025 Abidjan, Ivory Coast.  https://geia-abidjan2025.edu.ci/

Marc Guevara (BSC), WP1 lead in the CORSO project was invited to moderate a session and to present a poster at the 21st GEIA conference, which this year was held in Ivory Coast.

The GEIA conference brought together researchers from around the world working on the science of air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, and focussed primarily on scientific advances in anthropogenic and natural emissions.

Marc presented the results derived from CORSO WP1 and WP2 on improving the spatiotemporal representation of global industrial point sources by combining bottom-up and satellite-based emission estimates.

Marc adds “The conference was a great opportunity to present and promote the bottom-up and top-down emission datasets developed under CORSO, as well as to learn from other projects that are also working on the integration of top-down and bottom-up emission estimates. “

Marc moderated Session 1: Anthropogenic sources from urban to global scales and presented a poster in Session 3: Integrated top-down and bottom-up assessments.

About GEIA:

The Global Emissions InitiAtive (GEIA), is an international centre for emissions information exchange and competence building created in 1990 in response to the need for high quality global emissions data.

GEIA was established as a component of the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (IGAC) project and aims to help build emissions knowledge by: 1) enhancing understanding, quantification, and analysis of emissions processes; 2) improving access to emissions information; and 3) strengthening the community of emissions groups involved in research, assessment, operations, regulation and policy.
